Beauty, The Inside Story – “Dreaming in Pure Light”
“Voice, Heart, Mind – let me tell you about my dream,” said Clasey.
“In my dream, I am a teacher or caretaker. My student is a monkey named Julie. She felt abandoned, afraid and did not trust.
Though I had come to help, I was only half-trying. I was in my head. Even though I knew how Julie felt, my human had little empathy. But when I left and closed the door, something stirred inside. I felt my heart open.
I went back and opened the door. I found Julie cowering in the corner. I picked her up, comforted her, put her on my hip, then took her outside. She was still timid and yet at the same time I felt her confidence.
“Voice, Heart, and Mind,” said Clasey. “I was both the teacher and Julie. I was all sides – the human, the primate, all life’s experiences. In that moment of waking, I could feel I was Dreaming in Pure Light.”
